Quake 3 history Empty
PostSubject: Quake 3 history   Quake 3 history EmptyWed 05 Feb 2014, 12:23 pm

So, explain how did you start playing q3, when, what happened, how did you come up with your q3 name, etc.

Let me start first:

I was playing Quake 3 since I was like 12 or so, but only with my friends in a game rooms (not sure if this is a right name for it, but you get the point). I had no internet then and this was the only way for me to play q3. Although my friends prefered Counter Strike, they were OK with playing q3 from time to time. But besides that, I usually played it with bots when I was home.

After some years, when I got a good internet (it was when I started with high school, sometime around 2005) i started playing Quake online, and that's when I discovered freeze tag. I was always good with railgun, so I really like the mod. My nickname at that point was Viper, because that was my graffiti nick, and i chose it because it sounded cool and I was in love with Dodge Viper. I was also proud of myself for knowing how to add color to my nick so I made it like a rainbow (like Anarki has his name). Anarki was also my favorite, so I always used him as a model. My second favorite was Klesk and I use it now, since Anarki is making a weird noise when walking and it is a bit confusing with railgun sound.

I became quite good at freeze tag, so after a while I got invited to join a clan. It was some S* clan, I don't remember what it stands for. There I met some players you might remember, like T!S, ShinaTo, Devil. They had some weird rule how to become full member and co-leader (anybody could become co-leader), you just had to win 1v1 with somebody who is already full or co-leader. So I became a co-leader quickly. Wasnt that hard :)After a while, clan became inactive, leader stopped playing quake and few of us that were left started a new clan - TC* (The Chosen). T!S was the leader, and I was the main co-leader. The clan grew quite quickly, we became one of the best clans in the comunity, lot of people joined us, like Duke, G-Dog, Shadow, exorcist, maybe even Hot$hot(not sure). Thats all I can remember right now, there were probably some more that you could recognize.

Anyway, at some point, T!S and I were cought cheating, I was using wallhack he had autofire, so the clan disbanded. I was having problems with my computer when it all happened so it wash a shock for me when I came back. I will not make any excuses for my cheating, but my intentions were to learn better on how those things worked so I could maybe catch more people cheating. Oh, the irony. Dissapointed of my noob mistake, I stopped playing quake, but at some point (around 2008), T!S was braging how he started fresh and joined even better clan (LoVe). I think his new nick was raz3r or something like that. So I decided to that as well. I made a new xfire account and new cfg with new name: 'DiCe! / d1c3cR1pT0R.. I chose that one because it was cool and it was a graffiti nick of one of my best friends.

I just started playing some pub games, hoping somebody will notice my skills and invite me to their clan. And after a few days I was. It was some a bit under average clan, called iT (international Something, team maybe, I don't remember). Members where quite nooby, except for one guy that was maybe Merky level at that time (he was probably cheating, but I didn't want to get bothered with it). After a month or so, I crossed railguns and gaunts with -nn- clan, and was quite astonished when I saw the members. Those were actually people from TC*. I really like to play with those guys, even though they were harsh when I was caught cheating. So I started playing with them, we had quite fun and after a while they asked me to join their clan. I was really happy so I said I will and then I left iT to join -nn-.

I became close to guys there, and, even though I had an urge, I never told them who I was, because I was a bit afraid of being kicked from that clan and I wouldn't be able to play with them. So I stayed silent. After a while I even became a leader of that clan with w00t. In the end, in 2010, we have only few active members so we desided to merge ourselves with another clan - qD, and thus nQe was born, and -nn- was left as a club for previous -nn- members who wanted to play with -nn- tag ocasionally.

It was, in my oppinion, the best time for me, after -nn- clan, I met new fun people, we played a lot of games together, and for some reason it felt like Quake 3 home. I stopped playing quake around 2012, but I'm still in this wonderfull clan, which is somehow still alive (I'm honestly surprised) and is the best clan in this dying comunity, and I will be the last person left after if it's gone (hopefully not soon). A lot has happened with it, had it's ups and downs, most of you wintessed it, but in the end, I'm glad how it turned out and that I have met such a wonderful people.

The end.

Well yeah, TC did die when TiS and me got caught, nobody wanted to be in a clan where two main man cheat, but I was away at that time and when I came back, it was dead. Also I took a big break after and randomly logged in to xfire after a while when I saw TiS and he told me to make a fresh start, so I did. I didn't know about -nn- at that point, so it took me a while Smile I'm not sure how much time exactly passed between those two, but I'm sure I joined -nn- sometime at 2008.

And about cheating part, not many people did Smile It is not something I would brag about. I think the only people that knew about my past were Duek, G-Dog, Shadow and Edi, I think.

Oh, and I hope somebody will post their own histories soon, it sure would be fun to read how people started their quake 3 careers Smile

Sure. Im second than. My history more bored and fast i would say Smile

But to beginn... Sry for my English. If anywhat i can tell you it in German ;D

I think it was 2001 where a old freand bring a burn Quake 3 Arena from Poland xD
But so ihave start it. I have play it long time without Internet = no money. Only in on w-lan at home with 2 or 3 computers we played togehter or i have play singelplayer vs bots.

And i think on 2005 or 2006 i play first time Quake in Internet. It was very AWSAME to play vs real humans xD
I have start to play on A GirlZz Freeze You with ANA(Ln), AK!RA, Tutto(42ne), Pr0ph3t KiLLerbee(Djv*) and and and...
in 2007 i have found Germany players from fastrail or better they found me. So i start my first clan (at this time Pure German clan) eQ with Maus, AK!TA, adel... Maby 2 years later i have join LoVe clan. But after 1 Month i go back to eQ (Home). And maby on 2009 or 2010 i go out again from eQ and was alittle bit clanless. And anytime i see again 2 members from 42ne, razer and quad. And i have join Them. One year ago (2013) i have quit 42ne about problems with Leader (Odian) and stay clanless again.

I have like to bring eQ back and bring eQ back to Quake 3, but i have see that is not more like my old good times with my freands and choose to close eQ again. It was not the semnty :\
And after i have write he my topic for join nQe. I think for my self it was a good choose! Here play mostly of my old freands from the good end Gold Quake 3 Era Smile

I'm sure that i stay here in Quake 3 for a very very long time, and i hope you guys stay with me too.

I think i have my good and bad times in Quake 3. Have good freands and sure no good freands :p but who havent it?!
I think i am finish with history. If you have question than ask me and if i remember what i have forgot to say im write than here Wink

Yeah, I guess we all started with playing single player with bots Very Happy

I sort of can relate to your love for eQ, I kinda feel like that for TC, even though what happened in the end, and with -nn- in the beginning. That was the golden age for our community. But I also feel like that for nQe, even though its in the age when people are quitting and clans are dying.

Ah yeah, you were also in -nn- if I remember correctly Smile I don't remember when and for how long, though.

Quake 3 history Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quake 3 history   Quake 3 history EmptyFri 07 Feb 2014, 7:17 pm

For me the history is not that long.
Started playing on the demo version in 2007 or so I would always play some quake inbetween msn conversations and stuff because it would load in like 3 seconds, I mainly played in "the new r@ilrpo"
And in the "@CAMPINGSERVER@" under the name DARK_EMERALD.
not too long before that first server disapeared and I only played in the camping server where people would camp and I would kill them all which I was rather good at, (at some point I had the top 3 of the statts on the server with different names).

I got invited to the KinG clan and they gave me a leading role right away to recruit others.
KinG clan was not really a clan that would do scrims at the time and one of the other members asked if I did not want to create a new clan with him and some other people.
He told me to and how to download and install 1.16, a few cmd's I should use for a cfg and stuff; things I knew nothing about and he told me to play more in other servers where there wasn't a grappling hook and I did.
With my new cfg and enemymodels I went from 3-5 to 6-8 fpm in an average fastrail server and I was accepted to join the new clan in the making which would be Tv.

Soon I would play my very first scrim vs apparently a pretty strong opponent, vT clan.
Quake 3 history Vsvt
I had now idea who they were as I did not really know any clan or anything so I was just mad we lost ;P
So my first scrim went rather well; my theory stil is that as a completely new player they could not very well predict what I would do and in some of the other scrims we had as Tv I was rather bad.

Tv kind of died due to lack of interest and the guy that recruited me told me I should apply for the clan xG, and I did.

(Also I got invited to pWp by acid the same day but I had already applied to xG.)

They gave me T pretty much instantly but I would be one for quite a while, also they thought my name was too long and I changed it to Dark*E.
During that time I learned a crucial part of the game called the corner shot and I met some dutch players and I joined the dutch club: nL, I also played some scrims with KinG vs pWp while I was a full member of xG which were fun but I couldn't carry them to victory I was only able to bring them really close but they were a lot of fun with many frags.

xG clan died aswell and the leader ishake tried to rebuild it as rK but that didn't last very long and I went to join H$ a European clan for once.
Also a big and stable one at that and things went smoothly, I got my T and the first game I played as a T in H$ public server I got my first 100 in 10 which was nice and I became a full member later and would play a lot of scrims with everyone winning most times, naturally.
But also the not so fun part of my quake history is from this time, I recieved a letter from school that I was given a last chance to participate, I had to have perfect attendance and make sure I repeated all the tests I missed.
I got stressed, drank some beer and in the heat of the moment I thought I should rid myself of this game that kept me up late to play.
I remembered a topic about merky framing some random guy that would ask him for cheats, he would give him this hack.cfg which had malicious commands in it but as I learned later that didn't do the trick, it was a command he later told the guy to use that would cause a drop, the /autofire command which makes you drop after 5 times (on noghost atleast).
And I dropped in I think 4 different servers that night like this, also I noticed some days later that I had accidently made a demo of the last 1, demo had like 3/4 of a pWp scrim in it.
Anyway needless to say I was kicked out of H$ and labeled a cheater and I was content with that until 2 days later I got another letter from school saying I was getting kicked out anyway...

Now offcourse I regretted my actions as I stil loved this game, the people from nL club chose to believe me and let me continue playing with them, this is when I made the name b3nder I think.

Then titan who I had met in xG asked me if I wanted to join his new clan: Lw, he was in UE but he wanted to create his own clan with prodigy.
He believed my story and told me he had also dropped from using the /autofire cmd a long time ago but I would have to convice the other members aswell.
First I told my story on the clan forum and later I discovered the demo I had taken which would grand me a benefit of the doubt for aswell the other members of Lw and quite some people from other clans so I was very lucky with that.
Lw was also quite a good little clan, pretty strict on teamwork but we all shared quite a similair view on that so that worked quite well and we would have more wins than losses vs any clan (although I don't remember we ever played vs o2o).

Clan started growing aswell, especially around the time maverick's famous list came out and from many big clans there were people listed there but none of us were, I was quite lucky not to be though as I was using a cfg given to me that initially did have the q3_wall 1 line in it but a member from LoVe clan (I don't remember who) had asked me for my cfg and I decided to check in it first because I remembered that independant from xG was labeled a cheater when he posted his cfg somewhere and had this command in it.

Anyway we also took some of these listed people in, such as tw1ster who I was friends with irl aswell and things looked pretty good for the clan, we were getting many applications and everything.
Then revo came and recruited many of our trials to become full members of his new clan, and asked most of us full members to become trial members for his clan.
Some of the trials accepted the offer and our ranks were slimming down again, by this time titan was more into a/w and not so much into rail anymore and decided to end Lw and he would start an a/w clan called rps, I was also a member and played a scrim once lol.

As for rail I joined LoVe clan, some members asked me to try and LoVe was always a strong opponent so it seemed like a good choice and it was.
I had a great time in LoVe clan a very skilled clan aswell but someday tw1ster and kyzer who I would meet up with pretty often irl asked if I wanted to remake zt with them, devigra hellboy and A$D, I thought it would be a fun idea and decided to do it.
On hindsight it was a mistake to do so.
With zt we would win most games we played but it was a strict clan to join and we weren't really growing, then one day kyzer got mad at A$D for disturbing him during scrims or something and A$D was kicked and not long after the clan died once more.

I wanted to go back to LoVe but a bad trait of mine had started to develop where I would often stop trying when things didn't go the way I wanted them to and they locked my application because of this.

I stayed without a clan for a while since I was quite aware of my bad trait I wanted to try and fix it a little first.
I thought I could do that joining a whole new clan again and I applied for foq but my pc was getting worse by the day and wouldn't let me play quake with any more than 40 fps and I went inactive and my application got locked.

Then after a while I wanted to play again and EDI asked me to join nQe which he had done pretty often before and I thought that was a great idea  w00t and believe it or not I had also played quite some good games with that tag infront of my name Razz
Then EDI and gaara I think had some words I don't know much about and he left to make FC, but I decided to stay here as I thought it would be of bad taste to leave a clan and follow EDI to his new one.
I became less active when I finally replaced my crappy pc for a laptop because I expected to be playing better on it rather than much worse >.< but offcourse I keep coming back to give you guys hard times having to carry me xD and so I am stil here, I think this is the longest I've ever stayed in a clan but also have one of the least games with lol.

BUT! this is the clan where I have more posts on the forum than anywhere else or I think it would be if the old posts here woudn't have been deleted!

<3 Tim.

Quake 3 history Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quake 3 history   Quake 3 history EmptySat 08 Feb 2014, 6:50 am

I am feeling bored right now so I guess I will throw out some of my history. I don't particularly remember much about dates, so bare with me. xD

I originally started Quake back in roughly 2000 on the demo after a friend from starcraft introduced me to the demo of quake 3. I ended up playing and found freezetag with servers like oNu tdm at the time. Playing mostly at oNu and some other tdm server with hook, I soon found myself topping scoreboards. My perfomance was that good that I kept up with another oNu who eventually thought I was worthy of wearing the tag. Of course eventually another oNu comes along and is like, wtf and all about me not being in the actual roster. oNu was getting disbanded and reformed so I moved on.

After like a number of months, I found myself playing a lot on the 100mbit 1v1 server where I met Mr. Rail who invited me to join Wfx after seeing how well I played. That clan didn't last long as I lost contact with the guy and gave up on it lol.

I later met Chron!c in the 1v1 arena who was the leader of Star with a couple known members, including Damien who were later pros. Chron!c let me join before the clan had ended which led me to joining the famous 9mm clan which had Chon!c, Key, Damien, Ice, and some others in it, though it was a small clan. This was the first time I ever got to do some actual scrimmaging with Key for I had never done it before.

After 9mm's departure, I am not sure if it was Flesh or Chron!c who ran K9, but I joined that clan. The funny thing is, I never did anything during this time period and never kept up with forums or what not. After having not seen K9 members for so long, someone from ITK was like "Hey, ITK is K9 now, why don't you join?" I am like whatever and was made a part of it without any questions. Never knew anyone after that rofl and I wasn't a very smart person at the time.

I eventually joined uSr through the same means. This time it was a clan that was well known with previous members like Chron!c, Damien, Flesh, etc.. There were two versions of uSr and I was in the second era. Of course I was still clueless and hadn't bothered to look into anything being as dumb as I was.

Jumping forward in time a bit, I joined up with a 1v1 champion named Spartan and created an anime based clan called Fuma where I created the website and had members reflected by characters of the actual anime. It was a pretty fun experience and I eventually carried the idea over to my own clan EF or Elite Force by allowing my own members to have a picture of their choice with a bio.

At this time, Meganoob was looking to start up a clan later known as .o2o. or obligated 2 own which became super popular and wanted me to be a part of it. I turned him down at the time because I was still dealing with my own clan.

Moving along here, I eventually gave up on EF because I felt like I sucked as a leader and still had a lot to learn about scrimmages. So pOq was my next stop where I met toxic and a few others. I went through two renditions with their clan and had some good success overall.

Next came dXa where Key apped me in and suggested me to the clan. I played some scrimmages but my poor connection made it hard for me to play well at the time and I kind of just gave up and took a long break. During this time, I found out I became a full member of dXa and was kind of surprised because I hadn't hardly contributed much.

Months past and dXa finally sees the end of its time. I myself went inactive again for like a good half of a year before coming back to enlist with the clan Era. I was so rusty that I never made it to full, but was going to be given another chance. While a trainee in Era, I met a player named Tick who was quitting because of how bad Classic was as a leader. I couldn't have agreed more and turned down the second trial saying I was quitting Quake, when in reality I took up the new name of "Fox" and joined a clan called cD with Tick.

It was on that day that I took the name "Fox" because I resented the image of Era and wanted to oppose it by representing the "Anti Era". It was too amusing to resist and I played through various clans. The second clan being d0c where Era finally became suspicious about me, thinking I was some sort of hacker and finally figured out who I was. To have that sort of impact obviously meant I was doing the right thing so I continued with a bit of a snicker.

My next clan made an even bigger splash because of one particular reason. The leader of Bm was a hacker known as Nara and when we played with him against Era, he tore it up so bad that Era would always make quite the fuss, but nothing ever got accomplished over it because of the lacking proof that seemed to be apparent. The shear fact that Bm had Nara who was handing Era their asses was enough to get the clan known really quickly. Nara's brother also contributed too at the time.

From Bm and d0c, Tick and I moved onto a new clan called oBs which was probably by far one of the stronger clans out there at the time. It was also the only clan to use a number attached to their name to denote what member number you were upon joining. We played some seriously good scrimmages, but the lack of activity kind of just killed the clan after awhile.

This is when Tick wanted me to move onto C*. At this point I was kind of tired of the whole following Tick from clan to clan and after awhile in C*, I left to apply to .o2o. which had been through quite the assortment of years of endurance with plenty of great players, even those from the old oNu like Era had. Since I knew Meganoob, it was much easier for me to get apped in, so I took the opportunity and ran with it.

By this time it was somewhere in 2006. Boy do the years sure fly.. I proved myself as a trainee for o2o even if I wasn't much of a communicator at the time and got into full. I stayed with the clan for many years until its death in mid 2010. Too much inactivity was starting to plaque the US side of Quake.

A number of former members of o2o wanted to still play though and we all became a part of fOq or faces of quake. We literally dominated. It was East's clan and also had Key in it at the time. Not even the reformed Era in the form of [i] was a match for us.

fOq was probably the last clan to ever have such an elite cast of players before it went inactive. After that, I helped n2p out by joining them and then moved to RB when CandyGirl enticed me to join for awhile. That woman was sure a slick one.. I actually met and played with A$D or Ken in that clan who was probably the only other good player lol.

My last US clan I joined was not surprisingly, "end" which had some still left over Era players and what not. We did kick butt for as long as the clan had already at the time heh, but like anything else, inactivity killed it, and with it, the US side of quake without clans was done.

This is where I ended up playing with you folks and you know the rest of the story.. xD
