I believe that does answer the question, we have been in different clans plenty of times. He's played when I've not I've played when he hasn't.
We generally play every game together, there's a few other people we game with too but they don't play quake. I.E: We are both on voip most days playing other games with other people too. Right now our focus is Q3.

If one of us were to leave it does not mean the other will necessarily follow however at this point in time I would rather play with him on my team as it's nice to play Q3 on voip and have more communication, something I haven't seen any clans do in years.
